DIY Halloween Costume Awards with free printable circles

I’ve been getting some emails about the printable circles I created to make your own DIY Halloween costume awards and realized that I’ve never posted about them here, so I figured we better post about them today!

If you’re hosting a Halloween party, you’ll need some costume awards for your costume contest, right?! Well, don’t go to the party store and buy those cheesy ribbons or badges, just make your own – they won’t take you much time and you probably already have the supplies at your house!

Supplies

card stock
ribbon
crepe paper
washi tape
a glue gun
2″-2.5″ circle punches,
scissors
glue dots

I made three different versions of the awards.

Use some of that washi tape you’ve been collecting to make some Halloween ribbons:

DIY Halloween Costume Awards using washi tape & free printables

You can find a great tutorial for DIY washi tape ribbon awards over on Oh My Handmade.

I love paper medallions…make some simple Halloween costume awards using paper medallions and ribbon…

DIY Halloween Costume Awards using small paper medallions and free printabl circles.

Find a great tutorial for making paper medallions on The Shabby Nest. Once the medallions are made, simply cut some circles out of card stock, add the printable award circle and attach your ribbons using glue dots.

These Halloween costume awards are made out of crepe paper, cardstock circles and ribbon…

Once Wed has a great tutorial for making the crepe paper medallions.

Make your own Halloween Costume Awards using some free printable circles

To download the free printable Halloween award circles, simply click on the orange button below. The PDF includes 3 pages – one is blank for you to write in your own awards and the other two are pre-populated.

free printables button

My award ribbons are pretty simple, but you can easily add more layers of cardstock circles, crepe paper and washi tape and more ribbon to make your awards even more fancy!

So, here’s the big question: what are YOU dressing up as for Halloween??? Me…I’m boring and don’t usually dress up, but I know some people are totally into it! I’d love to hear your creative costume ideas!!

Free Black & White Halloween Printables - classic colors for Halloween!

I’m totally into black & white right now, especially for Halloween! I kind-of wish all my Halloween decor was black and white and I’m tempted to bust out the spray paint and coat everything that I have with black or white spray paint, but I guess I’ll resist, because I might regret it later! I do have 1 small table in my entryway that I dedicated to black and white only, but other little vignettes around my home include orange with some green and purple thrown in there too.

As you all know, I also love free printables, so to feed my black and white obsession, I’ve collected some of my favorite free black and white Halloween printables, in case you’re in a black and white mood too.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!! If you have young kids like me, you’re probably spending the day attending Halloween parades and helping out at classroom Halloween parties so have fun and enjoy it!

Halloween is always a crazy, busy day so I’m thinking ahead and I’ll be making this yummy Crock Pot Chicken Noodle soup I found on Pinterest. I’ll be serving it in some fun pumpkin bread bowls from Great Harvest – delish!

I don’t think I ever posted pics on my blog of the Halloween Cupcake party that I had for my daughter and her friends last year, so here are some pics for your Halloween viewing pleasure.

As the girls arrived at the party, each place setting consisted of a purple spider web placemat I found at the dollar store, an orange paper plate and their own box lunch.

I bought the white gable boxes at Xpedx and dressed them up with some scrapbook paper, the spider webs (created using a Martha Stewart craft punch), one of the labels from the printable package with each girls’ name on it and some ribbon to match.

Inside the box was their little lunch, which included a pb&j sandwich, a fruit cup, a bite of cheese and a tiny can of Halloween orange soda.

The sandwich was made into a pumpkin shape using a pumpkin cookie cutter and was packaged in polka dot bags I made out of wrapping paper and sealed with one of the labels from the printable package.

The fruit cups were made using some simple white paper cups I bought from a local baking supply store that I embellished with another cute label and then attached the little fork with some matching baker’s twine.

After everyone was done eating, it was time to decorate the cupcakes! I made both regular size and the mini cupcakes because I thought they would be fun to decorate too! The girls just used their lunch plates to decorate on and they could choose either purple or green frosting to start with.

After the frosting, they added their toppings…all sorts of sprinkles and candy to make them oh so cute!

Here’s a few of the wonderful creations…aren’t they fun!!??

After they decorated their cupcakes, we colored some Halloween pages (4&5 year old girls LOVE to color!), decorated paper with some foam Halloween stickers and played a witch hat ring toss game. All of the girls were just so cute and nice. They really had a good time!

For party favors, I bought these small jars at IKEA ($4 for a pack of 4) and filled them with black, orange and white gumballs, and tied the Thank You tag with Halloween ribbon.

And then I saw the cute Halloween chapstick at HomeGoods for $5.00 and had to buy it :-)

Such a simple party that anyone can easily pull together for their little ones. Have the kids come in their Halloween costumes…they love to dress up and it’s another chance for them to wear their costumes!

Here’s a few more ideas for decorating to make the party area more festive. Above the table hanging from the chandelier, I made these polyhedrons out of Halloween colored paper plates. They were really easy to make and just dress up the work area a little more. Here’s the link to the tutorial at Anders Ruff (another one of my favorite party sites!) if you want to give it a try.

I tied tulle and Halloween ribbon around each of the chairs where the girls would be sitting.

Last week I shared the fun Monster Mash party that I styled for Erika at Sour Punch Studio and I promised a tutorial on the spooky monster marshmallow pops so here you go! These would make such a fun treat at your upcoming Halloween party and my kids LOVED eating them!

Monster Marshmallow Eyes

You will need the following supplies:

Large marshmallows

Candy Melts

6″ lollipop sticks

Black food gel

White icing

Monster Marshmallow Eyes

Step 1: Insert your lollipop sticks into your marshmallows.

Step 2: Create the white of the eye by cutting the end off of a marshmallow.

Step 3: Microwave your candy melts and dip your marshmallows into the candy, covering completely. Place in styrofoam to dry.

Step 4: Immediately place your marshmallow ends onto the dipped marshmallows so that they will stick to the marshmallows while drying. Let dry for approximately 30 minutes.

Step 5: Once your marshmallows are dry, use your black gel to draw a circle on the white marshmallow.

Step 6: Add white dot to black circle using writing or cookie icing.

Step 7: Microwave additional colored candy melts and spoon into plastic ziploc bag. Cut off corner of plastic bag and drizzle over the top of the marshmallows.

Place your monster marshmallow eyes into a cute container using styrofoam as the base to hold the marshmallows upright. Now you have a fun treat for your Halloween party! The candy melts come in lots of different colors so choose some that match your Halloween theme.

I’ve been meaning to share these pics with you for a while now and I’m finally doing it!! Erika from SourPunch Studio contacted me to style some really fun printables she created with a Monster Mash party theme and I had such a great time! The colors and designs are so bright and fun with playful little monster, eyeballs & monster mouths! These printables are obviously meant for a birthday party, but I think they would work great for a not-so-spooky Halloween party for the little ones as well!

I started with a fun backdrop that is actually a furry blanket I borrowed from a friend. She found it at Sam’s Club last year and used it for an adorable monster party she created for her twins. I covered the table with a simple white table cloth but added green and white striped wrapping paper on top for a little more color along with some coordinating placemats.

I used the cute monster cutouts from Erika’s collection to the ‘Happy Birthday’ banner on the backdrop as well as some googly eye cutouts surrounding the birthday boy’s name banner along the front of the table. Eyeball cutouts were used to add some spook to all the candy jars as well.

At the center of the table was a simple cake I ordered from the grocery store. I requested they make the purple “hair” and then I added the monster eyeballs.

Other desserts included darling monster sugar cookies I ordered from the local sugar cookie lady. That’s really what she goes by!

I also ordered cupcakes from my local grocery store and again requested the ‘hair’ frosting in coordinating colors. Cupcake wrappers and 2″ circles from the party collection were added to the cupcakes. I love the mouth and eyeball toppers!

Fun drink wraps were added to flavored juice bottles and baker’s twine was used to tie on the matching purple polka dot straw.

I made Monster Mallow eyeballs to go along with the printable designs using candy melts and decorating gel. I’ll be posting a tutorial on how I made them soon! :-)

For simple favors, a thank you tag was attached to a tube of gumballs in matching party colors.

Other printable items in the collection include the customized welcome sign, cute masks and mouths for the kids to wear (perfect for a photo booth!), the darling invitation and thank you cards.

Doesn’t this make you want to throw a not-so-spooky Halloween party now?! My favorite thing about Erika’s designs, besides how amazing they are, is that they are customizable, which means you can add whatever wording you want to tent cards, signs, invitations, etc. I LOVE that!!

You can find this Monster Party collection in her Etsy shop HERE. Be sure to visit her blog as well!

I think this is the weekend that we’re going to BOO! our neighbors :-) For those of you not familiar with this fun tradition, what you do is make or buy some fun goodies to place in a cute container/sack and put them on a neighbors doorstop, ring the bell and run! Attached to the treats is a cute sign that is then placed in the window so the other neighbors know who has been BOO’ed. Whoever gets BOO’ed then BOO’s 2 other neighbors. It’s just a fun little Halloween activity to put a smile on an unsuspecting neighbor’s face.

There are so many darling “We’ve Been BOO’ed” printables, I wanted to round them up and put them all here in once place for you to choose your favorite. Just go to the designer’s website via the link provided to download your sign and BOO! your neighbors this weekend!

Anders Ruff free printable BOO sign

Anders Ruff has created the 3 fun designs above along with a cute ‘glam’ version to go with their new Halloween collection this year.

A Blissful Nest printable Boo sign

Bright orange and green striped sign from my friend Rebekah at A Blissful Nest.

Whimsical Printables Boo signs

Miranda from Whimsical Printables has created 4 darling designs!

I’ve used The TomKat studio’s signs in years past and she has a new one to add to the collection this year.

Anna and Blue Paperie printable Boo sign

Stefanie from Anna and Blue Paperie created a fun chevron patterned sign.

Petite Party Studio printable Boo sign

The cute girls at Petite Party Studio created a Frankenstein version.

Amandas Parties To Go Boo sign

Colorful ghost sign from Amanda’s Parties To Go.

Mimi's Dollhouse Boo printable

Another cute ghost printable from Mimi’s Dollhouse.

I haven’t decided which one I’m using this year and I think I’ll keep it a secret just in case any of my neighbors are reading this 😉 Do you BOO?? If not, start this year, it’s so much fun, the kids love it!!
